We’re delighted to announce the opening of our first dedicated Noble Souls galleries in London. Situated on the King’s Road and Tottenham Court Road, the new galleries aim to reconnect people with natural materials and ancient production techniques through a unique new concept that enlivens the senses. The concept originally launched in 2018 in Timothy Oulton galleries worldwide, and the new 1658 sq ft King’s Road showroom is a close neighbour of the Timothy Oulton’s global flagship at Bluebird.
The Noble Souls sofa collection is the world’s only 100% vegetable dyed upholstery collection, using vegetable dyes such as indigo, gallnut and madder root. Creating a realm of reconnection within the home, it offers disarming softness and epic comfort; a joy inducing jolt-of-the-senses that Timothy Oulton calls “whuush”. It must be experienced to be fully appreciated: as soon as you sit down your shoulders drop, your neck goes back, you smile, you let go, you feel again. A filling of ultrafine goose down feathers creates thousands of tiny pockets of air under a swath of natural soft linens, delivering the softest, most comfortable experience. The linens, with a rich opulent hand feel, are dyed the same way it has been done for thousands of years; using just natural dye stuffs and water. In this way, Noble Souls not only delivers a reviving “whuush”, but it also reconnects us with original ancient makers and natural materials.
Noble Souls began with a simple idea: that today’s real luxuries are those moments of blissful reconnection, when we feel ourselves truly alive, and when we deeply reconnect with one another. And today, those moments are just too rare. Ironically, in a globalized, digitized, virtualized world, we risk becoming more disconnected than ever from real life. We live in our heads, on our phones, in our screens. Hardened, and adrift in cyberspace.
Founder Tim Oulton asked - how can we create more of these moments? Blissful moments of reconnection, a return to our senses, our true life, our soul. Fueled by a passion for materials and craft, Tim found an answer on a journey that crisscrossed the globe, rediscovering ancient craftsmen, their techniques and the pure, natural materials they have used for thousands of years. The outcome: Noble Souls.
The collection features four modular sofa models: Realm (not available in the US), Nest, Oasis, and Haven (available in the US only). Each one offers a different seating contour, from extremely laid-back through to more supportive, ensuring there is a sofa perfectly suited to complement any lifestyle. All feature disarming “whuush” comfort, and the modular design ensures each sofa is endlessly configurable to suit any space.
Accompanying the sofa collection, a select range of furniture and lighting is available. Highlights include dining tables in reclaimed timber with veg dyed leather dining chairs, and a salvaged timber bed with premium natural mattress, supporting the other two important realms of reconnection in any home – the dining space and bedroom. Accents include rugs and cushions in handwoven veg dyed textiles, and lighting made from hand blown glass.
Tim Oulton says, “As we expand our brand, we’re excited to open the first bricks and mortar Noble Souls galleries where people can come and immerse themselves in the whole experience. The Noble Souls concept is about giving you permission to relax and truly let go. In a home, these sofas become a hearth, a place where you can reconnect with each other more deeply, or even just with yourself. I think the appeal of things that are natural, simple, trustworthy, extremely comfortable and beautiful are the kinds of things people want to fill their homes with at the moment.”
The two London galleries are now open at 324-326 King’s Road in Chelsea and at 84 Tottenham Court Road.
