Up, up and away! It’s no secret that here at Timothy Oulton, we love an aviator chair, chest or even mirror that brings a rugged sense of adventure to your home. Here, we take a look at some of our favourite pieces of travel and aviation-inspired furniture that elevate your interior décor to dizzying new heights.

Home Office Furniture With A Vintage Soul

Every piece in our Aviator range is one-of-a-kind, with a backstory to match. Inspired by the iconic Spitfire fighter planes that safeguarded the skies throughout World War II, this uniquely British furniture is hewn from aged aluminium and finished with rivets for an authentically rugged look with a devil-may-care attitude to match. So fasten your seatbelts: it’s time to let your imagination take flight.

Aviator Valkyrie Desk

Plan your next strategic manoeuvre in singular style. Guaranteed to imbue your work with a sense of gravitas, the Aviator Valkyrie Desk is named after the North American Aviation XB-70 Valkyrie, a strategic bomber prototype used for supersonic test flights in the 1960s.

This strikingly aerodynamic desk is finished in our signature Spitfire riveted metal. Built to mimic the plane’s riveted exterior, each of Aviator Valkyrie’s aluminium panels is painstakingly shaped, before being fixed by hand-applied nails. The intricate distressing process that each desk undergoes ensures that – much like the legendary planes that it pays tribute to – every piece has its own character and unique story to tell.

Swinderby Office Chair

Elevate your working day with the Swinderby swivel chair, wrapped in our signature Spitfire finish across the arms and back, with castors for easy manoeuvrability. A classic yet cutting-edge office or dining chair, the Swinderby is clad for comfort in our range of unrivalled leathers - hand-finished to achieve a vintage look and feel. Also available in a choice of linens and velvets.

Aviator Tomcat Chair

Arguably the most iconic piece of our Aviator range, this leather armchair is a sleek representation of British and American military cooperation throughout history. Our Tomcat’s plush curves are inspired by the twin-cockpit seats of the F-14 Tomcat, which was deployed by the U.S. Navy for some of its most prolific missions throughout the 1970s. Its butter-soft leather seat is then clad in riveted aluminium, bringing to mind the British Supermarine Spitfire that was a pivotal asset for the allies during World War II.

Each Aviator Tomcat is painstakingly constructed and finished to the highest standards, with every aluminium panel undergoing a five-step distressing process to create a look that is breathtaking from every angle. Such is the creativity behind this pleasingly retro armchair that the Aviator Tomcat won the 2010 Luxuria award for Most Innovative Product Design – a worthy recognition of this inimitable piece.

Aviator Blackhawk Desk

Unashamedly industrial in style, the Aviator Blackhawk Desk may be decorative, but it’s also practical, offering four black canvas-lined drawers in which to stow your kit. The Blackhawk Desk is rich with clever detail; its rounded corners and distinctive pull handles are designed to evoke the U.S. Army’s famous Black Hawk helicopter, while its touch exterior styling comes courtesy of the British Supermarine Spitfire plane.

Clad in interconnecting aluminium panels, and hand-finished with robust rivets, this tough desk is built to handle whatever everyday life throws at it.

Aviator Cowling Mirror

Reflecting not just your appearance but an entire proud legacy of British engineering heritage, our Aviator Cowling Mirror is inspired by the technical excellence of aircraft engines. Its distinctive shape recollects the casing that housed the Spitfire’s powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, while its aluminium panels are distressed to create an authentic finish for each piece.

A statement piece guaranteed to create a talking point out of the plainest white wall, the Aviator Cowling is available in two sizes, and two finishes to reflect just the right amount of light into your living room.
