The Birds Nest
Introducing The Birds Nest by Timothy Oulton Studio, an elevated aerie of woven rattan and soft upholstery around a central ceramic stone table. It’s the perfect spot for small groups to relax, congregate, and enjoy an intimate dinner or drink in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Birds Nest is constructed from all-weather rattan in a natural grey-beige colour, cocooned by an outer layer of intertwined rattan resembling twigs. Generous, plump cushions offer a tranquil landing pad, made from outdoor foam upholstered in a water-resistant, canvas fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. Two steps lead up to the nest, and overhead, a 4 metre wide umbrella can be installed to provide shade and privacy.

The Birds Nest is a feature of The Bearded Rose restaurant and cocktail bar in Barbados, part of the Timothy Oulton Hospitality Collection. In May 2023, The Birds Nest was showcased at London’s famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show in the Spring Garden Restaurant.

Handcrafted Details
An epic 10,000 linear metres - or 10km - of rattan is used to create The Birds Nest, weighing 280kg. It takes two craftspeople a full seven days to complete the weaving, which is all done by hand. Of the 10,000 metres required, 3,500 metres of this is used to create the intricate twig-like layer which wraps protectively around the outside of the nest.
