• All our sofa covers are 100% made from vegetable-dyed linens which is highly sensitive to sunlight. When your upholstery is left out in the sun, it can fade, bleach, and lose its natural qualities.
• Heat from radiators, pipes, and fireplaces can cause the material to become dried out and warped. Take this into account when you are looking for the best spot for your sofa, as somewhere without too much sunlight and away from heat sources will cause the least damage in the long-run.
• Avoid sitting on the edges of the seat cushions or on the arms as this can add excess pressure to the seams and cause distortion to the padding and fabric. 
• Be aware that sharp objects such as buckles, rings and pets claws can tear and scratch the sofa.
• Regular vacuuming your sofa to draw out all the loose dust and dirt from both under and above the surface. Use a soft brush attachment and gentle movements for this task to avoid scratching or marking the material.
• Plump your cushions regularly can help them keep their shape as feather can migrate to the corners or start coming through the covers (like a duvet).
• Our sectional sofas are connected by two brackets per separation to ensure a secure hold. Be sure that the brackets are un-hooked separately to avoid twisting the frame or breaking the bracket.
• If a replacement cover is ordered, it is important to unfold it and put it straight to the sofa frame when it arrives. In most cases, the creases should drop out within a few days, however, for some very persistent creases, gently steam it by a clothes steamer.

How to clean spills and stains on your fabric upholstery:

The first priority should be removing as much liquid as possible before it has the chance to soak into leather or the fibres of the fabric, which will minimise the chances of a stain forming. To do so, grab some kitchen roll or a dry cloth and begin to blot up the surface liquid. Then, use a fresh, damp cloth to dab at any marks that have appeared. If you're quick, you can often avoid a stain altogether or at the very least reduce any surface blemishes.

It's important to service your sofa's cushions so they keep their natural shape and provide the optimal level of comfort and support. All you need to do is plump your seat, arm, and back cushioning after each long period of use, perhaps at the end of each day. This is an essential task if your sofa is filled with feathers, fibres, or a combination of both, as they do not have the same resilience as foam and won't return to their original form.

All cushions require regular and ongoing maintenance.  The easiest method is to change cushions from one side of the piece to the other, or simply flip them over to distribute wear.  Some fabrics/leather may naturally 'creep' or 'slide' over time with use.  Flipping will minimise this, however sometimes it is necessary to unzip the cushion and pull or rub the fabric/leather back into place.

Feather & Down (NEST, REALM)

• Feather-filled cushions, especially when used as base cushions, require regular 'plumping' and flipping.  If this is not done their appearance and comfort level may deteriorate.

Foam-Wrapped Feather (NEST, REALM, OASIS)

• Feather-filled 'wraps' or 'feathered layers' have inserts filled with feather wrapped around a foam core.  This is one of the best quality cushion fillings in the industry and requires minimal maintenance.

Foam-Wrapped Fibre (SANCTUARY)

• These cushions are manufactured using only the best reflex foams with a light fibre wrap applied to further improve comfort and appearance.  This cushion provides a more tailored look and requires the least amount of maintenance, although cushions still require plumping and turning to even out wear and prolong their durability.

We recommend that you use a professional furniture dry cleaning service for both fixed and loose fabric cushion covers where appropriate.

Our fabric sofas have loose, removeable covers that can be taken off individually and cleaned. This means that you can access all the areas of your upholstery for more convenient maintenance.

Check the fabric care instructions for each fabric range the care label attached beforehand to be sure. And it's a good idea to steam iron them back on the sofa.

Colour Fastness

• No fabric is 100 percent colourfast, but fading can be prevented if the correct precautions are followed

Fading & Sun Damage

• Chemical/Veg Dyed fabrics, particularly those dyed in bright colours, are most susceptible to fading
• Upholstery should not be exposed to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as this may result in the fabric degrading or fading.  South facing rooms are exposed to the most sunlight.  Constant exposure to the direct rays of the sun can break down the fabric fibres, causing them to become brittle, increasing the risk of a rip or tear during cleaning.

Moisture

• Protect your furniture from moist environments like a bathroom, damp basement or near water.  Exposure to humidity can cause deterioration.

Pilling

• Pilling is usually a result of wear and tear, but climatic conditions and air quality are also contributing factors.  Pilling is not a defect and can easily be removed using battery operated pilling devices available from most haberdashery stores.

A thick, pure linen with an opulent feel. Plain weave with a more structured look.
