Blending the industrial world with the natural world, the Roda
pendant contrasts a metal frame in Lacquered Bronze with a delicate
disc of white alabaster, creating a soft ethereal glow as the light
passes through it. Prized for its snow-white colour, alabaster was
often used by the ancient Egyptians to carve sculptures. The stone
is translucent which gives it a beautiful luminosity, with earthy
brown and black markings often visible. Playing further with
texture and contrast, Roda's metal frame is cast in a mould to
achieve the distinctive textured lines across its surface. Named
after the Portuguese word for 'wheel' deriving from the Latin word
'rota'.
