Pendant lights, chandeliers, floor lamps & table lamps
Pendant lights
A living room interiors scheme should always start with a ridiculously comfortable sofa, a coffee table, and a great pendant light - usually above the coffee table - and then build out from there. When it comes to ceiling lamps for the living room, it's therefore good to go bold as this will be one of the key focus pieces. Our Night Rod pendant adds glamour, while the Alabaster Ring pendant offers a relaxed, calming feel. Groups of small pendant lights also work well, especially when they're hung at different levels to add more interest. If your ceilings are low consider a Flushmount pendant such as the Rex Flushmount.
CHANDELIERS
You can't get more classic than a crystal chandelier. Ours come in a choice of Antique Rust finish or natural metal for a modern feel. Our signature Gyro Crystal chandelier encases a Georgian-style chandelier in a cage of aged metal spheres, contrasting the romance of the crystals with the industrial look of the metal. Many of our light fittings are made using K9 optical glass, and that's because it's much lighter than crystal so you can use it in big installations. It also has better clarity than crystal, it diffuses the light for a softer, mellower glow.
FLOOR LAMPS
Floor lights for the living room don't need to be your typical pole and shade option, our floor lamps are designed with beautiful glass fixtures that disperse the light for a magical glow. The light often casts interesting shadows on the wall as it disperses through the glass. Columnar shapes also make for interesting floor lamps for the living room. Get inspired by our Night Rod floor lamp in bronze and glass, or the ethereal Frozen floor lamp in white Pearly Quartz. A standing lamp is also the perfect partner next to an office desk or armchair.
Table lamps
When it comes to lounge room lights then table lamps are a must, providing low level light for watching TV and entertaining. Some of our favourite lamps and table combinations include the glamorous Rex table lamp with our Globetrekker side table, and the industrial Gyro table lamp in Antique Brass paired with the Regiment Drum side table. If you're looking for lights for a bedroom, the Paradise tiered glass table lamp is a timeless choice that's both classic and modern, and looks especially good with our Colosseum marble side table.
OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER
Ceiling height
Consider your room size and ceiling height when choosing the scale of your pendant light or chandelier. Flushmount pendants can be a better option for low ceilings, but a larger light fitting can still work when placed over a coffee table for instance.
Can your ceiling support the weight?
Your ceiling must be able to support at least 5 times the weight of the ceiling light, and may require strengthening if you are hanging a heavy light fixture. Ensure you check the ceiling's weight bearing capacity before installation.
The shape of the room or furniture
A series of round pendants are great for leading you down a long, narrow hallway, rectangular pendants complement a long dining table, and a more organic shape such as a crystal chandelier fills the space in a vaulted room or grand stairwell.
Group pendant lights together
Lighting doesn't always need to be big and dramatic, groups of small pendant lights work well for a more casual look - especially when they're hung at different levels. A cluster of smaller pendants looks great over a coffee table.
