care guide
Marble is one of the most beautiful natural materials, used by the Romans and Ancient Greeks for its crisp, clean and cool effect. Incredibly durable, marble’s translucency gives a unique visual depth beyond its surface for those natural patterns to shine through. No two slabs are alike and will each mark and etch differently. Honed marble has a matt appearance compared to polished marble.
Marble is porous and can be easily stained, scratched or chipped. A water repellent finish is applied to our marble to give some protection, this will not repel acidic substances.
After regular use, your marble top will develop its own unique patina in which light spots, streaks or rings that can be felt by hand will develop. This is completely normal and unavoidable, and cannot be undone without the surface being refinished. As with any natural material, this aging process enriches your furniture and gives it that special character and soul.
By following the care instructions below, you can keep your marble looking beautiful for many years to come.
Slate is formed over millions of years from layers of fine mudstone and sometimes volcanic ash. Our slate collection is a celebration of rugged and imperfect natural beauty.

Rugged and unrefined, limestone celebrates the honest beauty of the natural world. Limestone was used to build the Great Pyramid in Giza and the ancient Mayan civilisation in Mexico carved great sculptures from it. Our limestone has been hammered by hand across the entire surface to create a textured lychee finish, so called due to its resemblance with the pitted skin of the lychee fruit. It has an earthy beige colour that varies from piece to piece, with occasional small red veins found in the stone.

This innovative new finish transforms reclaimed shards of quartz into a unique and dramatic new form. It is created during a highly technical process inspired by a volcanic reaction that takes place under the ground in the presence of heat and carbon. The resulting Carbonstone has a translucent, crystallised appearance, with mesmerizing visual depth. The finish has been left raw and natural, with no lacquers added, and will therefore age and mark with use.

Calcite is a natural mineral similar in appearance to Quartz but more opaque and milky in colour. The Calcite emits a very soft, gentle glow when illuminated, with earthy red, brown or black veins sometimes visible. The finish has been left raw and natural, with no lacquers added, and will therefore age and mark with use.
