Every Timothy Oulton leather has been created to evoke a unique sensation, and each has its own story.
Vintage Inspiration
It starts with the inspiration that comes from the beauty of
well-worn leathers. The spark may be an old antique piece, the edge
of a worn out handbag or briefcase, or the patina of a leather
covered tools handle. This old antique chair was the inspiration
for our groundbreaking Vintage Cigar leather.
"I went to school in an old Benedictine monastery, which was full of old classic English leather furniture and antiques. The richness, the patina, it somehow got embedded in my psyche, and I've loved great leather pieces ever since."

WE ARE WORLD EXPERTS IN HAND-FINISHING LEATHER
Every hide is worked on for many hours to achieve the authentic
look and feel of vintage leather. Natural characteristics are
celebrated, with each leather designed to become more beautiful
with use. Translucent dyes are applied by hand to create rich,
natural palettes. Simple tools and time-honoured techniques are
employed.
In some cases, the leather is worked on again once upholstered,
to create unique, secondary finishes.
We love the unique characteristics of real, uncorrected leather, because that’s what gives it soul.
Because we work translucent dyes into the hide instead of
coating it in pigment, our leathers feel warm to the touch and all
the hide's natural character is celebrated. We offer a curated
palette of colours and a wide range of finishes from soft and
buttery to smooth, waxy, pebbled, dry, and suede-like textures.
Our leathers are uncoated to preserve their natural look and
feel, and will absorb marks and scratches over time. Simply wipe
your leather with a soft dry cloth to remove dust and keep it out
of direct sunlight to avoid drying, cracking, and disolouring.
Leather is a living material which will change with time and wear,
developing its own unique patina.
We have our own Gold-rated sustainable tannery in Brazil and we hand-select our hides from the world's top 5%.
TIM & DIEGO
Our Argentinian leather master Diego Diaz has been working with
leather since he was 15. When Tim Oulton met Diego 20 years ago,
they instantly hit it off and went on to create some of the world's
most innovative leather concepts.
