It was a crisp, cold winter evening as the sun went down over Seoul, but things were about to heat up, as we celebrated the grand opening launch party of Timothy Oulton’s first gallery in Korea.
Amsterdam; the city of canals, culture and creative thinkers. It’s also home to two of Timothy Oulton’s European galleries – one in the heart of the city and the other lying opposite the famous Vondelpark in a beautiful former 19th century church. This month, it was time to go behind the scenes and hear from the man himself, as Tim flew in for a two day of events to get to know customers, interior designers and press.
Tim Meets the Press
The day was packed with visits from an array of publications, as we hosted press for breakfast at the gallery and lunch at local restaurant Ron Gastro Bar. The new collection has just hit the floor in Amsterdam and it was an exciting opportunity for the press to talk to Tim about the inspiration behind the new pieces.
An Intimate Dinner with Our VIP Customers
The evening was a real highlight for Tim, as he sat down to break bread with 16 of our VIP customers. The Amstelveenseweg gallery provided a cosy venue for cocktails and dinner as guests got to know the man behind the brand.
Tim Talks to Interior Designers
Following the recent launch of the Timothy Oulton Trade Professionals Program, this was the ideal time to hold our first major event for interior designers in Amsterdam. Timothy Oulton is committed to developing a closer relationship with interior designers and the event was the perfect platform to start a dialogue, with Tim offering an exclusive insight into his own story from antiques dealer to designer, as well as introducing the crowd to the collections and the benefits of the program. The event was held in partnership with Obly.com; a unique visual community in which homeowners, design enthusiasts and professionals come together, and Objekt Magazine; a leading authority in interiors, design and architecture. Frank Scheerder, Sales Manager for Obly and Hans Fonk, internationally renowned photographer and founder of Objekt, also spoke at the event, which welcomed around 30 of the city’s interior design community.
Style and the City Event
Tim’s visit to the city climaxed with our signature Style and the City event at the Amstelveenseweg gallery. Always a pleasure to host and a memorable night to attend, the event was elevated with the excitement of Tim’s presence.
Style and the City brings together some of the city’s best brands for an evening of fine wine, good company and great style for gents and ladies alike. We rolled out the special Timothy Oulton black carpet and our two traditionally dressed British guards welcomed around 70 guests inside for the evening.
Champagne glasses were soon clinking and Veuve Clicquot were on hand with some delicious tasting of various millésimes. Guests made their way around the gallery, discovering the new Timothy Oulton collection now in store. The elegant party atmosphere was in full swing with live music from local Dutch band Bag ‘n Swing.
Possen Made-to-Fit Fashion were ready with their measuring tape to tailor-make their finest suits for the well-heeled crowd, while Leeder presented their beautiful leather shoes and belts, handcrafted in Italy. Many of the gents enjoyed a gleaming shoe shine from Distinctly Different in the comfort of Timothy Oulton’s rugged Mad Professor chair while others were eyeing up the brand’s luxury men’s gifts, including premium shaving and shoe care products.
More expert craftsmanship, this time in a culinary vein, was offered by Ombar chocolatiers, who were treating guests to two creamy varieties of chocolate, made from all natural ingredients including coconut sugar. From the tantalising smell of chocolate to the heady scent of perfume, guests made their way over to the new Iceberg dining table to tailor-make their own bespoke fragrance using Skins Cosmetics’ Nose DiagNose system, which offers 300 individual scents.
As the music continued to play, more champagne and canapes were served and Tim gave a warm speech welcoming the crowd. The lucky draw was announced with prizes from each partner including a belt, champagne and a Timothy Oulton leather weekender bag amongst other discerning treats.
Guests were also introduced to the Timothy Oulton Room Planning service; an interactive new tool that brings your dream interior to life with the help of our knowledgeable Ambassadors. Now available in store, Room Planning allows you to choose the perfect furniture to fit your unique space, providing 2D and 3D plans so that you can visualise how your new room will look and feel.
It was a super stylish, elegant and relaxed evening, and an occasion for Tim to connect with customers whose Timothy Oulton furniture is part of their everyday lives. In fact, one couple had driven all the way from Germany to attend the event in order to meet with Tim and ask his design advice on their interior. We’re sure it won’t be too long before Tim’s back in the Dutch city to meet and inspire more people.
