Interior designers live, breathe, and bleed style, so it’s always exciting to show our latest collections to a small crowd and feel the heart rates rise and the energy start pumping around the room.
It was all happening down under this week as Sydney and Melbourne celebrated Timothy Oulton’s new 2014 collections with our partner Coco Republic, laying on a host of events for press, designers and VIP guests. We always take the greatest of pleasure in hosting and Australia was given a warm welcome in true British style, with Tim Oulton himself at the launch to give an inspiring insight into each of the four new collections; Jet, Coastal Drift, Adventurer and Age of Elegance.
The events kicked off on Tuesday in Sydney with an intimate dinner party at the Timothy Oulton gallery at Coco Republic, hosted with American Express Centurion. Guests took their seats at the long candle-lit table for a four course British-inspired menu by the award-winning The Stables Sydney.
On Wednesday, Tim Oulton chatted over brunch to the Australian press about the inspiration behind each new collection; from historical heroes Sir Donald Campbell and Biggles, to the escapism of coastal living and the glamour and elegance of Georgian England.
As the sun went down, the black carpet was rolled out for the Sydney launch party and the gallery entrance was lined with a fleet from Rolls Royce, McLaren and Aston Martin. Mouthwatering food and drink was served again by The Stables Sydney and guests mingled with drinks in-hand – including the specially concocted ‘Oulton Nourishment’ cocktail.
The next day, 500 miles south, we were just beginning the celebrations in Melbourne. In similar style, our gallery in Richmond put on a cracking cocktail night in honour of the launch.
Friday was marked with a ‘drive day’ as guests excitedly geared up to take a spin in eight different models from British engineered icons Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, McLaran and Jaguar.
The week’s festivities will draw to a close this evening with the Melbourne launch dinner hosted in collaboration with American Express Centurion. Guests will feast on a menu designed by George Calombaris from The Press Club, and get the exclusive chance to chat with Tim about his inspiration behind the new collections.
