It was Galileo Galilei who said that “wine is sunlight held together by water”, so what better way to celebrate the summer than with an evening dedicated to wine at our Bluebird gallery.
Our first Gentlemen’s Evening of the year kicked off last week at our Bluebird gallery in London, where we welcomed over 150 of Chelsea’s most stylish chaps and ladies to celebrate the modern gentleman.
It was a brisk February evening, the working day had been put to bed and the bustle of the King’s Road beckoned our guests to The Bluebird, home to our worldwide flagship and largest, most exciting space in the world. Bluebird encompasses the very heart of Timothy Oulton, and we were thrilled to be sharing our home for the evening with 10 fantastic lifestyle partners, showcasing everything from traditional tailoring to watchmaking, gin tasting, fragrance, footwear and more.
Our guest list brought together people from all walks of life, from customers to press, influencers and stylists, to familiar faces including songwriter Bob Geldof, Right Said Fred frontman Richard Fairbrass and Made in Chelsea star Ollie Locke. Everyone received a warm welcome as they explored the gallery; making themselves at home on a comfortable leather sofa, smiling at our yellow submarine submerged in a giant fish tank, and stepping into our very own Apollo spaceship to enjoy a glass of champagne, served by hosts in bowler hats and vintage bowties.
Speaking of dapper attire, tailoring brand Kit Blake had joined us for the evening to showcase their modern yet classic trousers, alongside stylish footwear from J Fitzpatrick, and bespoke lounge gowns from Gownsmith. Our resident barber for the evening, Haks Oscar, attracted a constant flow of trims and wet shaves, while elsewhere in the gallery The Jaunty Flaneur was busy buffing and polishing our guests’ shoes to perfection.
No gentleman would be without an exquisitely crafted timepiece, and Fears watchmakers were on hand to showcase their exceptional heritage watches. Lured by the heady aroma of Commodity’s artisanal fragrances, guests made their way to try out the signature scents, while gin tasting proved a popular stop with Brentingby Gin, handcrafted and bottled in the heart of England.
The evening was in full flow, but there was still more to explore. Publisher Taschen was delighted to introduce a selection of great coffee table books from our Bluebird display, including Annie Leibovitz’s epic hand signed ‘Collector’s Edition’. And some incredibly smart and sophisticated home audio from Orbitsound rounded off the evening’s feast for the senses.
The atmosphere was buzzing, the wine was flowing, and the chatter was as abundant as the magnificent tower of cheese taking centre stage on the Axel dining table (we do love to host a party with good cheese). It was then time for our grand prize draw with one lucky winner taking home a selection of prizes from our partners, including a Timothy Oulton Thomas Sleeve in Ronin Indigo, a limited edition blue leather exclusive to Bluebird.
As the evening came to a close we doffed our hats to another wonderful Gentlemen’s Evening, in the company of some fine ladies and gents.
