The design industry’s most anticipated event in New York kicked off this month at the prestigious New York Design Center, home to Timothy Oulton’s brand new Manhattan gallery. Around 7,000 guests attended this year’s What’s New, What’s Next event, which included 92 participating showrooms, 52 designer conversations, presentations, panels, and 22 Meet & Greets with the industry’s top names, editors, and manufacturers—all celebrating what’s “new” and “next” in design.
We were delighted to host a panel discussion at our gallery with esteemed panelists Alyssa Clough, Social Media Editor of Domino magazine, Peti Lau and Lindsay MacRae from Access to Design, the New York Design Center’s in-house design service, and international interior designers Noah Turkus and Alberto Villalobos. Guests arrived to our new space on the 8th floor of the renowned 16-storey design building, a stalwart of New York’s design scene that has been representing a mix of classic creations and avant-garde innovations for the past 85 years – the perfect home for Timothy Oulton’s latest opening.
An energetic discussion on today’s hottest trends and their impact on design ensued from the comfort of the Nirvana sofa, with conversation illuminated by one of our most unique designs from 2018 – the Rock Crystal Rain chandelier, handmade from delicate hand-polished pieces of ancient rock crystal. Of course a hot topic was what’s new and what’s next at Timothy Oulton, and we were thrilled to treat guests to an exclusive preview of some pieces from the 2019 Collection, including some special innovations using selenite, a crystallized mineral revered by many for its spiritual and protective properties. Guests were also able to experience some of our most iconic designs with a personalized tour of the gallery over champagne and British afternoon tea.
Coming “next”, stay tuned to find out what else is “new” in Timothy Oulton’s upcoming 2019 Collection, soon to be unveiled…
