This May, Australia’s interior design community came together to celebrate the very best in Australian design talent at the 2016 Belle Coco Republic Interior Design Awards. This year’s judging panel included Tim Oulton, along with publisher and design expert, Karen McCartney, Coco Republic executive directors, Anthony Spon Smith and Jeremy Byrne, Dinosaur Designs creative director, Louise Olsen, Belle editor Tanya Buchanan and Belle’s style director-at-large, Steve Cordony.

A highlight of Australia’s design calendar, the Belle Coco Republic Interior Design Awards acknowledge the highest calibre of Australian interior design and decoration. The awards are one of the country’s most prestigious design accolades, setting the benchmark for expertise, creativity and vision.

This year, Coco Republic welcomed over 250 industry and media guests to the glamorous awards ceremony at its Sydney showroom in Alexandria. The winners showcased intriguing interiors across residential, commercial and hospitality sectors, weaving a distinctly fresh Australian aesthetic with a unique and innovative approach.

The seven categories were dominated by the outstanding projects of designer Fiona Lynch. Fiona took the top award in three categories: Best Residential Interior for the Balwyn Residence, Best Bathroom Design for the Hargreaves Residence and the coveted Belle Coco Republic Interior Designer of the Year 2016, as announced by Tim Oulton and Anthony Spon Smith. Fiona is the first female winner of the Interior Designer of the Year award in its six year history.

Best Residential Interior – Readers’ Choice – Arent & Pyke, Double Bay House
