Welcome to the beautiful home of London style guru Claire Chanelle. Claire founded luxury style blog Chouquette in 2012 and lives in the heart of Chelsea with her husband Paris and their 9 month old son Honoré.

Claire recently revealed her newly decorated living room, a great example of making a small space feel larger by using a few statement pieces in a tonal colour palette. The focal point of the room is her Shabby sofa in Vintage Bianco leather.

Claire says, “My lounge is a special place to me, it’s such a small space but I love it, it’s a little sanctuary. I love being at home, relaxing on the sofa, reading a book, I often work on my laptop in the lounge and we enjoy movie nights, so for me, the sofa is the most important part of the lounge. The Shabby is so comfortable, it’s Honoré’s favourite sofa – we have so many sofas and this is his favourite! I think it’s because it’s so deep and so relaxed. We went with the Vintage Bianco leather which is the same as our dining chairs, I would have everything in this leather! We also have the Shabby footstool for when we’re watching TV but we move it when people come over as it also makes a nice seat.”

The beauty of a sectional sofa is that it’s customisable to the size of your living space, whether your room is more bijou or larger in scale. “One thing I really love about sectionals” says Claire, “is that when you move house, 9 times out of 10 you need to buy a sofa to fit the new property, whereas with this we can take it to a new home and make it fit by adding more sections.”

When choosing the colours for the room, Claire kept it simple. “I didn’t want to overpower the room so I’ve gone with a neutral palette. I’ve basically used what I choose when I style myself, I love the same colour in different tones and different textures, so everything in this room is different textures and tones of white and beige.”

A white Marble Cube side table is topped with a glamorous lamp featuring bold plumes of white feathers, while a textured neutral rug and cosy throws bring warmth to the room, which is bathed in natural light. A Rex Diamond pendant adds sparkle, reflecting rainbows of light on the white walls and ceiling thanks to its precision-cut prisms of K9 glass, while also providing contrast from the welded metal frame. “It’s perfect for this room” Claire notes, “because it has an industrial look. It kind of adds something else to this feminine space so I think it works really well. I love the Timothy Oulton bowler hat on the canopy, I didn’t notice it when we bought it but it’s such an amazing little detail.”

The space also reflects Claire’s love of travel. “Asides from the sofa, the other focal point of the room is the fireplace, I went to Vietnam about 4 years ago and had it made. I wanted a Parisian fireplace but nothing overly dramatic as it’s a small space. I’m very happy with it. I also love the canvas on the wall, it’s a print of a piece I fell in love with when I first started out at Harrods many years ago. It was a gift from my mum and it reminds me how far I’ve come, it’s a very sentimental piece for me.”
