Interior Style Hunter is the London based luxury interior design and lifestyle blog, by Grant Pierrus, dedicated to giving you design and lifestyle inspiration. Grant has found himself drawn to Timothy Oulton designs for some time, so we met up with him at the Hong Kong gallery for a deeper insight, and gave him a personal tour of the Harrods gallery back in his home town of London.
Grant developed his love of design after living in Cape Town, where he bought and renovated many houses on the sought after Atlantic Seaboard. After moving to London, he trained as an interior designer and interior stylist at the prestigious design centre Central Saint Martins, followed by KLC School of Design. As well as creating beautiful interiors for his clients, Grant travels the world in his quest for innovative and unique luxury design, exploring and showcasing designers and brands on his Interior Style Hunter blog. He says: “I love to dig around and uncover a brand’s DNA. This helps me to understand what they are about, but more importantly, who would benefit from being introduced to the brand.”
So what happened when the Interior Style Hunter explored the DNA of Timothy Oulton? Grant surmises: “Timothy Oulton has created an iconic brand, the look, styling and way about doing business is unique…ask about their leather, you’ll be there for a while. It’s fascinating to see so much passion for a material, this level of passion is rare.” When visiting the Hong Kong gallery and Rare by Oulton antiques next door, Grant said they were “two of the best shops I’ve seen in a very long time.”
Visiting the Hong Kong and Harrods galleries was an experience that felt “intimate and special”. At Timothy Oulton, that experience of walking into our stores is extremely important to us and, as Grant notes in his blog, we’re extremely proud that our Harrods gallery won the Harrods Customer Service Excellence Award last year, beating 329 other departments with over 5000 staff.
So what design impressed the Interior Style Hunter most? Immediately drawn to the glamorous Age of Elegance range, Grant says: “My favourite piece in the collection is the Bastille armchair, it’s wrapped in brass-studded leather and the design is so sophisticated. The brass detailing at the bottom of the chair elevates this piece into something quite special.”
