To celebrate the official launch of Elle Decoration Country Volume 11, we hosted a warm and welcoming evening at the Timothy Oulton gallery at Heal’s to reveal the new edition.
Elle Decoration Country is a luxury twice-yearly publication that’s more a book than a magazine. It’s a contemporary alternative to traditional country publications, for rural fans who also appreciate modern design. In the new edition, Timothy Oulton has a strong presence with a double page spread and back cover featuring the Loft collection, and the iconic Saddle chair and Shabby sofa, making the gallery the perfect place to host the launch.
Around 90 people arrived at the gallery, on the second floor of London’s historic Heal and Sons building, with industry professionals, readers of Elle Decoration and Timothy Oulton customers among the crowd. With a glass of champagne in hand, guests were welcomed in a speech by Ben Spriggs, Executive Editor for Elle Decoration, and Richard Pownall, UK Regional Sales Manager for Timothy Oulton.
Dapper waiters in bowler hats and bow ties made sure the drinks flowed, the playlist hummed in the background under the noise of chatter, and guests explored the gallery – with some discovering the collections for the very first time. Groups gathered over wine and cheese at the Titus and Glacier dining tables, which became a real hub of the event.
Smaller groups were scattered around the space, with some relaxing on the Shabby and Nirvana sectional sofas, and others having more intimate conversations. At Timothy Oulton, we’re passionate about hosting, and it was a pleasure to hear from guests how they loved the cosiness of the gallery, with some likening it to being at a friend’s home.
One of the highlights of the evening was the lucky draw to win Timothy Oulton’s iconic Saddle chair. Winner Nicole Gregory was thrilled to win: “My friend and I had been talking prior to the event about how much both of us loved the chair and how we really wanted to win it. Obviously that’s one of those things people say with absolutely no hope or expectation of actually winning so I was completely stunned and ridiculously thrilled to win. It all felt a bit like a dream the next morning and probably still will until the chair is in situ.”
It was a wonderful convivial evening, and as the night wrapped up, guests left with their gift bags including a gallery voucher and a personal copy of Elle Decoration Country Volume 11 – a great read for the week ahead.
