When Nobleman magazine founders Doug and Lydia McLaughlin finally found the perfect marina location for their Newport Beach office-cum-entertaining space, they asked long-term collaborator Timothy Oulton to help transform the bare white walls into a sophisticated gentleman’s lair. And now in an event that is sure to go down as one of the most significant for the Nobleman’s beloved publication, the Noble House (which the publication affectionately also calls their “headquarters”) held its grand opening. The red carpet and black-tie affair was attended by an exclusive crowd comprised of friends, partners, and supporters, who came to experience this very special, and exquisitely designed space. Imagined by Doug and Lydia Mclaughlin in a symbiotic partnership with Timothy Oulton, and more than ten months in the making, it is a very special place indeed, filled with treasures and finds that truly represent the Nobleman brand.
Guests lounged on Timothy Oulton’s distinctive and comfortable chairs and sofas including the Viscount William sofa, hand-finished in Vagabond Brown leather, the Tribeca Tufted sofa in Destroyed Black leather – a contemporary nod to the timeless Chesterfield, the iconic Mars Chair MK3, the elegant Bastille armchair and the Professor chair in rugged Scarecrow leather. Perfectly at home in the marina location, the coastal-inspired Spur side table and Glacier coffee table in burnt timber and acrylic offered some sizzling glamour together with Zig Zag table lamps.
Guests were treated to great bites by Davio’s restaurant and the exceptional bartending services of Behind The Glass, who wowed the crowd with unbelievable cocktails and theatrics that will leave an impression for a long time. Not to be outdone, the most fabulous and creative cheese and charcuterie table was designed just for the occasion by Delightful Table. Spirits were provided by the House of Carbonadi, and their spectacular premium vodka, whiskey by Monkey Shoulder, gin by Amass Distillery, while the bubbly was flowing all night long at the dedicated champagne bar. Gurkha cigars added to the sophistication of the cool Newport Beach night with a variety of cigars that were thoroughly enjoyed by the eager and well-heeled crowd. And to put an exclamation point on the night, (and frankly, what’s the point of having a location by the water without a boat?) Sun Country Yachts outdid themselves with loaning the Nobleman team their spectacular and brand new 62″ Pershing yacht. Finally, Rolls-Royce Orange County set the tone for the evening with two of their fabulous cars, the Dawn, and the Cullinan. Add to this a special ribbon-cutting ceremony, it really was a wonderful night.
