Around 200 guests joined us over two nights of celebration. British Bowler hats and bearskin hats were at the ready – donned by our British Guards looking dapper in their traditional red uniforms and standing to attention at the front door to greet guests: “Welcome to the world of Timothy Oulton!”
Fresh red rose petals carpeted the sidewalk, paving the way inside…
Old friends and new faces from all walks of life made up our eclectic crowd, including VIP clients, local realtors and interior designers, with some discovering our flagship, which opened in December, for the first time.
Music played, champagne corks flew, glasses clinked, cameras clicked, and conversation filled the air as guests made themselves at home on our authentically handcrafted sofas and furniture, and tucked into towering platters of fine cheeses and fine wine.
Amongst the beautiful furniture, vintage curios, and sensory feast of materials – hand-finished leathers, veg-dyed linens, reclaimed timbers, crystal, and marble to name a few – one attraction in particular was commanding a queue. Apollo by Timothy Oulton Studio is our spaceship-come-private lounge, built to the same scale as the original Apollo 11 capsule.
The exterior is clad in stainless steel while the bespoke interior is in luxurious tufted paisley silk and features hand-tufted leather seating, a glowing central Alabaster table and precision-cut glass chandelier overhead.
This particular model featured at the Architectural Digest Design Show in 2019 and is part of a series of Apollos, which can be customised to a client’s needs and shipped worldwide.
The new DTLA gallery is our second L.A. location, in addition to Timothy Oulton’s first ever gallery in Culver City. DTLA was once the jewel of L.A.’s entertainment scene in the Roaring Twenties, and is now emerging once more as a lively, creative hub, with a growing art and design scene. Embodying our values of heritage, creativity and hosting, the Downtown area is the perfect home to showcase our modern, subversive take on luxury, and we’re already feeling part of the community here. Thank you to everyone who joined us for our opening celebration!
If you haven’t yet visited us our Downtown gallery, come and meet Tav and his team, explore the collections and take a seat inside our Apollo spaceship! We’re located at 950 South Broadway and we’d love to welcome you. And if you’d like to join our guestlist for future events sign up to our newsletter for inspiration, offers and event invites.
