One of Chelsea’s most historic and best loved pubs, The Chelsea Pig, has reopened this month, offering a unique hosted experience in the inimitable surrounds of Timothy Oulton’s story-filled interiors. The newly invigorated space embodies the brand’s signature relaxed yet sophisticated style, combining and contrasting a palette of authentic materials and handcrafted fabrication techniques to create a captivating feast for the senses.

 

 

 

Our founder Tim Oulton has always been driven by a passion to create inspiring spaces where people can connect and have a great experience, and The Chelsea Pig is a natural extension of this philosophy.

 

All fittings and furnishings, as well as the overall design of The Chelsea Pig, have been conceived and fabricated in the same workshops used for the creation of Timothy Oulton’s distinctive furniture collections, all with the intention of providing an inspiring backdrop for guests’ experiences. 

 

The bar and ground floor dining space evokes an atmosphere that is at once richly immersive, yet informal and welcoming. The dining room on the first floor – known as the Trophy Room – is refined and intricate and the perfect hidden gem to while away hours over gourmet food and fine wine.

 

Meticulous attention to detail and quality of materials is evident everywhere. Every material has been carefully chosen to invigorate the senses, from the traditional wood panelled walls to the warmth of deep-tufted leather, the richness of brass to the cool, smooth touch of marble, and the opulent feel of thick, regal velvets.

 

Quintessential British design and craftsmanship can be seen in the custom designed accents such as a handcrafted bar in Italian moonstone marble with glass baguettes suspended in a brass frame. An array of vintage furnishings from Tim Oulton’s personal archives includes an antique leather Goyard bar trunk.

 

Derek the Diver, a juggernaut of Timothy Oulton’s creativity, welcomes guests from his vintage-inspired diving suit and custom-built aquarium, sparking conversation and hinting at a fun evening ahead.

 

A rich colour palette is offset by modern chandeliers and inviting hand finished leather seating including our classic Professor armchairs and Lannister dining chairs, authentically hand-finished using the best quality hides to create a rich patina and warm hand feel. It’s the perfect coalescence of old luxury and handcrafted comfort.

 

 

 

Other signature designs from the Timothy Oulton collection include the Westminster Jack’dN Brok’n sofa, a hand-waxed and heavily distressed homage to enduring beauty, and a hallmark of leather artistry. The Crystal lighting collection is used throughout the space to give a warm, vintage glow, together with Crossglass and Odeon pendants, and Selenite sconces handcrafted from natural pearlescent selenite.  

 

The Chelsea Pig is the latest project by Timothy Oulton Studio, a boutique design practice co-founded by Tim Oulton and Simon Laws. Dedicated to the creation of incredible environments, Timothy Oulton Studio delivers bespoke and innovative projects worldwide, with previous hospitality projects including Glazebrook House hotel in Devon, England, the Dome Home in China, and 1880 members’ club in Singapore.
