A decade since opening our very first gallery in L.A., we invited partners and friends to our annual At Home Show to host them for a very special 10 year celebration, from floating on clouds to dining in a timber utopia…it was an event full of surprises.
As guests stepped over the threshold of our 40,000 square foot showroom they were literally walking on air. Turning the world on its head, ‘Cloud Land’ featured a surreal blue sky floor with fluffy white clouds, while huge palm trees stretched up to the ceiling and a six ton illuminated rock crystal completed the otherworldly atmosphere. The showroom lobby – with its walls and ceiling clad in 2,000 vintage oak doors – had been reimagined into something lighter and more ethereal, setting the tone for more dramatic unveilings over the three-day show.
Friends, old and new, had travelled from all over the world to be with us. A hearty welcome awaited, and guests explored the showroom, champagne in hand, to be dazzled by a different experience on each floor. The highlight of the show was a sneak peek of Timothy Oulton’s new 2019 Collection which launches in galleries early next year – our lips are sealed for now but stay tuned for more details!
Another highlight was The Confessional, a secret bar accessed through a trick bookcase, showcasing the capabilities of Timothy Oulton Studio. Dedicated to the creation of incredible environments, Timothy Oulton Studio delivers bespoke projects worldwide with a focus on the hospitality sector, with recent projects including 1880 members’ club in Singapore. Inside The Confessional, concealed alcohol shelves with LED lighting, infinity mirrors, a converted antique meat trolley and a dramatic velvet curtain all helped to transform this traditional gentleman’s club style meeting room into a theatrical speakeasy bar.
Guests were also invited to relax in Timothy Oulton’s Dome Home, built six years ago as the prototype of a multi-use pre-fabricated timber structure that can be shipped anywhere in the world. Since then, Domes have been shipped to clients in Denmark, The Philippines and Northern Ireland for use as a spa, showroom and restaurant, with further projects on the horizon. The prototype Dome Home, which has Passivhaus status, was refreshed with a new look for the show, inspired by Timothy Oulton’s Noble Souls aesthetic; a statement that it is often the simplest and the most ancient things that can move us the most.
With a deep-rooted ethos of hosting at the heart of the Timothy Oulton brand, guests were treated to a very special dining experience held at the nearby San Kok Arts showroom. Designed by Timothy Oulton Studio as a showcase of San Kok’s expertise and craftsmanship working with reclaimed timber, the venue’s soaring 7 metre ceilings and suspended lantern-inspired private office created a dramatic backdrop to Timothy Oulton’s renowned hospitality, with over 100 guests coming together to break bread.
Our brand is 10 years young, and the event had been a celebration of our journey past, present and future. 2018 marked the launch of Timothy Oulton’s Noble Souls at the Milan Furniture Fair as well as the opening of our global flagship at Bluebird, sharing with the great and good of London our latest expression in visceral hosted experience creation. There’s a lot to celebrate, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last 10 years. And what about the next exciting chapter? Well watch this space, there’s a lot more yet to come….
