36 floors up, overlooking the heady hustle and bustle of Bangkok, this bold and beautiful penthouse brings together the owner’s passion for Art Deco with his love of movies in a personality-filled entertainer’s paradise.
The 250 sqm penthouse is located on the 36th floor of Monument Thonglar, with spectacular panoramic views over the city. Thonglar is one of Bangkok’s hippest neighbourhoods, known for its blend of local charm, luxury residences, and upscale bars and restaurants.
The client enlisted the services of interior designer Mr Thaipan of Thaipan Studio to transform a blank canvas into a show-stopping entertainment space, using pieces from the Timothy Oulton Collection at Indeca Living. An elegant party vibe was created with a modern nod to the glamour of Art Deco – the era of Cinema’s Golden Age, while also reflecting the client’s love of movies.
The dining space offers a captivating backdrop for hosting. The Rex dining table in iron and polished K9 glass takes centre stage, sharing its name with the Rex cinema in England – an Art Deco gem built in the 1920s. Softly lit from within, the entire piece glows like a spectacular chandelier.
A mix of Kimono dining chairs in vibrant Acid Jungle velvet and Angeles dining chairs in leather offers a contrast of sumptuous materials, further swirling the senses. The bespoke bar in black and copper echoes the curves of the furniture, and houses everything needed for a great night in.
Whereas the dining area is designed to thrill the senses, the living space has a sophisticated yet relaxed mood. This before and after shot shows the transformation of the living area into a cosy hang-out space for movie nights and game nights.
