The Bluebird flagship store of British furniture and interiors company Timothy Oulton has won the Inspiring Creative Design category at this year’s prestigious Luxury Briefing Awards. It has also been highly commended in the Luxury Retailer of the Year category.
Both awards recognise the creativity and innovation of Timothy Oulton’s flagship showroom which opened last September at Bluebird, Chelsea.
The 2019 Luxury Briefing Awards took place on 28th of October, hosted at The Savoy in London. Established in 1996, Luxury Briefing is the leading authority on the luxury industry, and its annual awards event recognises outstanding achievement and celebrates the diversity of talent, ideas and excellence that are elevating the industry.
Presenting the award for Inspiring Creative Design was writer and award-winning film-maker Charlotte Metcalf. Quoting the panel, she said Timothy Oulton had “stood out for its energy and compelling bravura” and amazed with an “outrageously original approach to retail”. “This is the absolute antidote to Amazon” said one judge. “This is a brand that has used creative design to transform a retail space into an astonishing experience full of stories.”
Timothy Oulton also received the Highly Commended award in the Luxury Retailer of the Year category. Judges said that Timothy Oulton “knocked nearly all the other retailers out of the water and gave its customers experience, experience, and then more experience.”
Bluebird is Timothy Oulton’s first standalone gallery in London, and not only showcases the very best of the brand’s daring furniture and interiors collections, but also offers a creative space full of sensory overload. Curios include a steel-clad space lounge called Apollo, a yellow submarine submerged in a giant fish tank, and a 1.7 ton glowing rock crystal.
