GERT - Genuine English Reclaimed timber, or Gertie, as its more affectionately called in the workshops, is salvaged from the sites of old barns, distilleries and factory buildings around the UK.
The timber is at least 50, and sometimes over 100 years old. It has developed rich patina, and after such a prolonged use and exposure is now extremely stable. Once reconditioned, it can be used for furniture making.
The wood must be sorted into sizes and lengths that suit different pieces, then reconditioned which always involves denailing.
