Aviator Tomcat

A swept back sense of speed and exhilaration
Modelled on the cockpit chair of the American F-14 Tomcat and wrapped in our Spitfire panelling, inspired by the British Supermarine Spitfire, the Aviator Tomcat is a melding of two of the world’s greatest ever fighter planes.
Inspired by brave missions and heroic duty, celebrating the cutting-edge of avionic engineering, the Tomcat transports you with a swept back sense of speed and exhilaration of flight.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was deployed by the U.S. Navy for some of its most prolific missions in the 1970s.

The supersonic fighter jet served as the U.S. Navy's primary maritime air superiority fighter, fleet defence interceptor and tactical reconnaissance platform.
In the 1990s, the F-14 began ground-attack missions with new infrared technology and low altitude navigation. After more than three decades of service, it was retired from the U.S. Navy's active fleet on 22 September 2006.
Timothy Oulton’s Aviator Tomcat is inspired by the sleek lines and aerodynamic curves of the F-14’s rocket-propelled ejection seats, fitted in tandem in its twin-cockpit.
Our signature Spitfire finish came into being when Tim acquired a complete wing tip from a genuine Second World War fighter plane. Using this as the inspiration, we developed our riveted aluminium panelling, echoing the original plane.
The battle raged from July to October 1940, with British pilots fighting tooth and nail with the German Luftwaffe to oppose invasion, and secure the territory of Great Britain.

Forcing popular admiration and respect, the Spitfire later became the backbone of the Royal Air Force fighter command.
The Supermarine Spitfire proved a critical cog in the Allied victory.

During the Battle of Britain its pilots led a ferocious air attack, leading Prime Minister Winston Churchill to solemnly proclaim:
“Never was so much owed by so many to so few”.
These daring missions and heroic stories live on.

The Aviator Tomcat is about facing the world with fearlessness, living life with energy and driving forwards with guts and determination.
The Aviator Tomcat was the winner of the Luxuria award for Most Innovative Product Design in 2010.
