On 20th August, we excitedly launched our first ever gallery in India. The black carpet was rolled out, lined with fresh rose petals, as we invited guests to enter the world of Timothy Oulton, New Delhi.
One of the biggest dates in Hong Kong’s social calendar is November’s annual Clockenflap. It’s the city’s biggest festival and draws huge crowds to its many events from live music to food, films and family activities. Cool bands, original art displays and a totally unpretentious attitude make this 3 day celebration of creativity great fun and a chance to kick off your shoes, feel the grass on your feet and totally let your hair down. Of course we were absolutely delighted to style the super-cool and comfy VIP marquee, sponsored by Cathay Pacific, which soon filled up with guests chilling out with a drink, meeting new people and getting the party started.
Enjoying a spectacular harbourfront location in Kowloon, the Clockenflap stage set the tone for a sizzling musical line-up from Kool and the Gang to The Flaming Lips and Tenacious D. The luxurious VIP Marquee was fully open at the front with a perfect close-up view of the stage and the fabulous city skyline beyond. Grabbing a drink at our iconic Spitfire bar, guests chilled out on the comfortable sofas to enjoy the show, including the Tufted Tribeca, leather Bensington and Bensington Union Jack. Other guests got chatting in Aviator Tomcat chairs and one very relaxed guest even fell asleep in a Mars chair amongst all the noise. Blackhawk side and coffee tables gave a bit of rock ‘n’ roll edge while Axel bookcases added warmth to the space, filled with hundreds of freshly cut red roses. Black drapery provided a dramatic backdrop to the large Atom chandeliers, reminiscent of fireworks exploding overhead in a burst of energy from the music.
With music playing a big role in Timothy Oulton’s design inspiration, we had to include one of Tim’s favourite personal pieces – the Drum side table. Based on 19th century regimental drums used by the British army, the Drum collection of tables, shelving and lighting has become a bit of a symbol at Timothy Oulton for marching to our own beat, free from rules. The perfect accompaniment to Clockenflap.
Three days, 45,000 people and a massive amount of fun later, we’ve got some great memories of Clockenflap 2014. And if you were there with us, we’re pretty sure you do too.
